Native Title Process Begins for 2 of Terra Calor Energy’s Queensland Geothermal Exploration Permit Applications

Terra Calor Energy Pty Limited (TCE) has been advised by the Queensland Department of Resources that the native title assessments for the Exploration Permits for Geothermal Energy (EPG) No’s 2052 and 2053 applications have been finalised, and the department has identified that the underlying tenure includes land where Native Title may continue to exist.

As part of the Native Title process permits EPG 2052 and 2053 have been publicly notified by the Department of Resources’ Native Title Services in the local newspaper and the Koori Mail.

Concerning EPG 2051, which has also been applied for, part of it is subject to the Gaangalu Nation People (No. 4) (QUD33/2019) (QCD2024/001) determination, which is currently under appeal in the Full Federal Court of Australia. Consequently, TCE’s application for EPG 2051 is on hold until the court reaches a decision.
